AMSTERDAM -- In an effort to boost off-season travel here, the
Amsterdam Tourist Office is offering a winter package that combines
hotel stays with free admission to cultural institutions and
assorted discounts.
Called Winter, the Amsterdam Way, the package includes two nights'
accommodations with breakfast at one of 26 hotels in the
capital.
Prices for the package are from approximately $65 to $173 per
person, double. Taxes and service charges are included. Extra
nights may be booked at discounted rates. The package is available
through March 15. Commission is 10%.
Participating hotels include the Crowne Plaza Amsterdam City
Centre, the Radisson SAS Hotel Amsterdam, the Best Western Eden and
the Rembrandt Residence Hotel.
A major component of the package is the Amsterdam Culture and
Leisure Pass, which has 34 coupons offering free or discounted
admission to museums, sightseeing tours and restaurants in the
capital.
The pass grants free admission at the Rijksmuseum, the
Rembrandthuis, the Van Gogh Museum, the Stedelijk Museum of Modern
Art and the Amsterdam Historic Museum.
Clients will be able to use the pass to gain free admission to
the Rijksmuseum's "Amsterdam Gold and Silver" exhibition. The
exhibit showcases more than 500 silver and gold objects
representing the Netherlands' finest work in this field from the
16th century to today.
The tourist office here said the pass offers a savings of
approximately $90. The package can be booked by calling the
