Bermuda summer deal sets free companion air


NEW YORK -- Bookings are now being accepted for the summer version of the Compliments of Bermuda tour operator promotion. It calls for a free companion air ticket when a five-night or longer vacation is booked by June 30 for travel completed by Oct. 31.

Discounts on sightseeing and other visitor services -- using a special passport document -- will be provided as well.

To qualify for the free air ticket, the hotel used by the tour operator must be participating in the promotion.

Participating tour operators are: American Airlines Vacations, Apple Vacations, Classic Custom Vacations, Continental Vacations, Delta Vacations, Future Vacations, Gogo Worldwide Vacations, Magic Carpet Vacations, Travel Impressions, US Airways Vacations and TNT. In Canada, Air Canada Vacations is participating. (Additional operators are pending.)

Participating Bermuda resort hotels and cottage colonies are: Ariel Sands, Elbow Beach, Fairmont Hamilton Princess, Fairmont Southampton Princess, Grotto Bay Beach Resort, Harmony Club, Newstead, Pompano Beach Club, Rosedon, Sonesta, Stonington Beach Hotel and Surfside,

Sample packages include those of US Airways Vacations.

The fly free plan is available from Albany, Buffalo and Syracuse, N.Y.; Atlanta; Baltimore (BWI); Boston; Charlotte, N.C.; Hartford, Conn.; New York (Newark and LaGuardia); Philadelphia; Providence, R.I.; and Washington.

Clients leaving from other valid US Airways origin cities will receive a $400 companion air credit per couple.

US Airways Vacations' Bermuda packages include roundtrip air, accommodations, room taxes, service charges, and international travel taxes of $77.60, including the Bermuda departure tax.

Five-night Bermuda vacations departing Thursdays between May 1 and Aug. 1, from Boston, Charlotte or Philadelphia, including free air for the companion traveler, start at $1,133 per person, for the first traveler if accommodations at the Grotto Bay Beach are used. The companion would pay $933 .

Other hotel choices cost $1,556 for the first guest and $1,156 for the companion; if using the Elbow Beach Bermuda; $1,660 and $1,260, respectively, for the Fairmont Southampton Princess.

Special payment parameters apply, and air must be booked in K bulk class only.

Rates include airport passenger facility charges of $18 and a security fee of $10 per person.
