MEXICO CITY -- Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide opened the
457-room Sheraton Centro Historico Hotel & Convention Center
here.
Owned by Inmobiliaria Interpres S.A. de C.V., the hotel is
Starwood's 20th property in Mexico and its third in Mexico
City.
According to Starwood, the hotel has the distinction of being
the capital's largest meetings and events hotel.
The hotel's convention center features 53,000 square feet of
events space, with eight meetings rooms that can be divided into 14
smaller rooms.
All meetings rooms are equipped with state-of-the-art technology
and can accommodate a combined total of more than 6,000 people.
"With the [new hotel], we can offer both the leisure and
business traveler an excellent choice in hotel accommodations in
the capital's downtown area," stated Batya Brykman, Starwood's vice
president, Latin America division.
The hotel's business center includes five meetings rooms with
audiovisual and teleconference equipment, secretarial services,
copying services, Internet access and individual work stations.
Among the hotel's 457 rooms are a 3,229-square-foot presidential
suite plus a number of junior suites and master suites.
All rooms are wired and equipped for business travelers, with
work desks, two-line phones, data ports and flat-screen TVs with
Internet capability.
Among the hotel's restaurant choices is El Cardenal, which
specializes in Mexican cuisine and is decorated with murals
honoring Mexican artist Diego Rivera.
SeDeVino, a wine bar, offers a selection of more than 400
wines.
Guests can work off their meals at the Sport City Gym or in the
swimming pool, which has an 82-foot-long swimming lane.
The hotel is situated on Avenida Juarez in the heart of Mexico
City's Historical Center. Some rooms feature views of Alameda
Park.
Mexico City's Historical Center contains a vast artistic and
cultural legacy, with more than 1,500 buildings designated as
historic landmarks, including the Palace of Fine Arts, the
Metropolitan Cathedral, the National Museum of Arts, the National
Palace, the Post Office Palace and the Franz Mayer Museum.
