TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Responding to a strong business travel market,
Marriott International said it will open the first Marriott-flagged
hotel here in late 2004.
Construction is expected to begin later this year.
The 417-room Taipei Marriott Hotel will be located in the Sixth
Neihu Consolidation District, just north of the city's central
business district.
The hotel will be part of a mixed-use complex that will include
shops and restaurants. It will be the tallest building in
Neihu.
The hotel will be situated approximately 45 minutes by car from
Chiang Kai-Shek Airport.
The hotel will have two restaurants and a lobby lounge.
Amenities will include a health and fitness center; two swimming
pools including an indoor lap pool, and two squash courts.
Fifty-one of the rooms will be business-category rooms with a
separate lounge. There also will be extensive meetings space, a
business center with a dedicated staff and a parking garage.
