The Walt Disney Co. launched a new campaign
aimed at bringing more families with children ages 5 and under to
its resorts in Orlando and Anaheim, Calif.
Under the Magical
Beginnings brand, Disney is making a multi-faceted effort to
attract a demographic adjacent to its target market, but previously
just out of its range, according to Disney.
The attractions for
families with younger children include early opening access to
appropriate Fantasyland attractions for children 5 and under; a
Magical Beginnings map that points out toddler-friendly
attractions, eateries with special kid's menus, stroller rentals,
kiddie pools, play areas and baby services locations; and in-room
babysitting.
The Walt Disney Co.
has designated the travel period through Nov. 21, a normally slow
period for the resorts, as its Little Ones Travel Time, during
which it will offer its Magical Beginnings travel packages and
enhance the attractions for targeted market.
During the period,
Disney will stage concerts with the kiddie-music group the Wiggles
and other children's acts; open Fantasyland earlier for toddlers on
select days; and provide special maps for parents of
toddlers.
A sample two-night
Magical Beginnings package at California's Disneyland resort starts
at $239 per adult. They include accommodations at a Disneyland
Resort Good Neighbor Hotel with complimentary shuttle service to
the resort; a three-day Disneyland Resort Park Hopper Bonus ticket
for entry to Disneyland and California Adventure Park; early entry
into Fantasyland; entry into Mickey's Toontown Morning Madness; and
preferred seating to "Playhouse Disney -- Live On
Stage".
