KRALENDIJK, Bonaire -- The first phase of renovations at the Divi Flamingo Beach Resort here should be completed this winter.

Renovations completed thus far include the reopening of the Chibi Chibi restaurant, the addition of an open-air lobby, new landscaping at the main entrance and pool areas and upgrades to most of the 89 hotel rooms.

The Chibi Chibi restaurant is now a four-level, open-air eatery.

All accommodations in the Lora, Blenchi and Flamingo buildings and the oceanfront accommodations in the remaining buildings have been remodeled.

Upgrades include new tile floors, furniture and air-conditioning units as well as refurbished bathrooms.

Phase two, which consists of restoring the Calabas restaurant, the casino and the remaining rooms, is slated to begin in February, while renovations on the time-share units are set to begin this summer.

Through April 13, rates start at $117 per person, double.
