Four Seasons finalizes Whistler resort plans

WHISTLER, British Columbia -- Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts and Intrawest Corp. are working on the final plans for a 273-room resort at the base of Blackcomb Mountain here.

The property will be the first Four Seasons resort sold as condominiums and managed by Four Seasons as a full-service hotel.

The property will have a restaurant, a concierge, a spa, a health club, an outdoor pool and 10,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space.

The resort will be within walking distance of the lift at the base of Blackcomb Mountain.

Construction is expected to begin in spring 2002, with the opening expected in spring 2004.

In other lodging news from Whistler, the London Mountain Lodge on Nita Lake is in the final approval stages with the city.

The boutique hotel will operate as an exclusive retreat, with 25 log cabins nestled among the trees near Whistler Mountain.

Each cabin will have one, two or three bedrooms; small kitchens; fireplaces, and covered decks with hot tubs.

There will be a main lodge with seven rooms, a restaurant, a spa and meeting rooms.

If approved, the lodge will open in 2003 or 2004.
