CLEVELAND -- Global Fare, a company here that markets a line of
small group tours to Europe, released its 2000 brochure featuring a
wide range of itineraries and one-day sightseeing excursions in
Great Britain.
A variety of tours, from two to 15 nights, take clients to
Scotland, Wales and several regions of England, including the
Cotswolds, Lake District, Cornwall and Yorkshire.
Rates range from $645 per person, double, for the shorter plans, to
$2,599 for the longest programs.
A four-night itinerary to Yorkshire is priced at $649; a
seven-night trip to northern Wales costs $995, and a 15-night tour
to southern England and the Channel Islands costs $2,529, for
example.
Prices are land only, and departures are scheduled through
mid-October. The firm uses three- to five-star hotels, and groups
are limited to 10.
Day excursions in and around the London area include the
Historic Pub Tour, $40 per person; Bath and Country Villages, $85
per person; Stones and Bones -- Stonehenge, Salisbury and Avebury,
$85 per person, and Gardens of the Cotswolds, $92 per person.
Day excursions in and around Edinburgh include the Highland
Fling, $45 per person; Loch Lomond, the Trossachs & Stirling
Castle, $45 per person, and St. Andrews and Royal Kingdom of Fife,
$35 per person.
Day excursions are limited to 15 people, and the firm generally
uses the backroads instead of the main highways.
As the company's brochure states: "We have always wondered why
traditional coach tours use the freeways to travel to Bath [from
London], when there is so much to see on the old coaching
route."
Global Fare also customizes vacations for groups of up to 100
people. In addition to Britain, the company offers programs to
France, Italy, Ireland, Austria and South Africa.
