ORACABESSA, Jamaica -- Island Outpost opened Goldeneye -- a
luxury resort on the former estate of Ian Fleming, the creator of
James Bond -- and introduced spa packages there.
Mario Leon, director of sales for Island Outpost, said agents
can lure guests with the chic features of Goldeneye and combine it
with a stay at Strawberry Hill, with its new Aveda Concept Spa,
just outside Kingston in the Blue Mountains.
Goldeneye, an eight-minute drive from Oracabessa airport, comprises the Fleming villa, a
three-bedroom beach house and eight bedrooms in five cottages. The
Fleming villa overlooks the Caribbean and has a staff that provides
meals and services at the villa's garden dining area and private
beach.
Each cottage has indoor and outdoor dining facilities serviced
by a full-time staff, a kitchen, private beach access and an
entertainment/television room. Outdoor showers are surrounded by
lush landscaping, Leon said. Activities include private Jet Ski
tours, diving, snorkeling, deep-sea fishing, yacht cruising and
tennis on lighted courts. Drivers and transfers via helicopter or
private plane are available.
The Fleming villa is priced at $5,000 per night. Rates for other
Goldeneye accommodations range from $650 per night to $2,000 per
night and include all meals, bar drinks, taxes and service.
Goldeneye, which accommodates up to 26 guests, can be booked for
a group for $60,000 per week, Leon said. In keeping with the Aveda
product philosophy, the spa at Strawberry Hill uses flower and
plant ingredients in a variety of services, such as massages,
facials, body care and other treatments. Among several spa packages
is one that combines a stay at Strawberry Hill with the Caves in
Negril, offering yoga instruction and Aveda massage in an open-air
gazebo.
