NEW YORK -- Companies are always looking for ways to keep costs
down.
One of the latest trends is to request that corporate travelers
share hotel accommodations.
That's just fine with the Hotel Giraffe here. The property
welcomes such roommates.
While many hotels are not conducive to such arrangements, the
73-room luxury boutique boasts of more than adequate
facilities.
To start with, the hotel's 320-square-foot double rooms with
10-foot ceilings offer two queen-size beds with individual reading
lamps as well as two separate eight-foot-long granite desktop
surfaces, each with data ports for laptop computer connection and
high-speed Internet access.
"Besides the generous dimensions of the double rooms," said Rose
Revicki, director of sales and marketing, "all of the rooms feature
balconies with nine-foot glass doors that offer north and south
vistas of Park Avenue South.
"It's rare in a hotel room to have any kind of outdoor access.
That's a real plus when business colleagues are sharing a
room."
In addition, all of the Hotel Giraffe's rooms feature three
telephones with speaker phone and voice mail.
The hotel provides two alarm clocks, and all guest rooms are
equipped with
CD players, VCRs, stereo systems, 29-inch televisions and
electric black-out shades.
The hotel is located in the city's growing dot.com area on 26th
Street and Park Avenue.
