WESTMINSTER, Colo. -- The 369-room Westin Westminster, which
debuted here this spring, has its eye on wired business travelers.
According to general manager Bill Dougherty, the Westin's
ballroom could host an event with 1,000 guests and 10,000 active
computers.
The hotel's outbound service to the Internet is via fiber-optic
lines.
Guests also are capable of talking on the phone and hooking up
their laptop via a modem at the same time.
The Westin's guest rooms are equipped with two-line speakerphones
with built-in data ports on their desks and two-line phones bedside
with built-in data ports for modem connectivity.
The hotel also offers WaveLan, a Lucent Technologies product.
WaveLan enables guests to get a wireless, high-speed Internet
connection while they lounge by the pool or walk along the
promenade.
The resort also offers more than 40,000 square feet of meetings
space.
There are 18 rooms, including boardrooms, a library and a
12,000-square-foot ballroom that can be divided into smaller
rooms.
The Westminster has an indoor swimming pool and fitness center,
and golf can be arranged at nearby courses.
The property is part of the Westminster Promenade, which
includes a 24-screen cinema complex, an ice arena, 45 miles of
hiking and biking trails, restaurants and a two-acre lake.
The Westin is about 30 minutes from Denver Airport.
Weekend rates start at $99, and weekday rates range from $189 to
$209.
