COZUMEL -- Occidental Hotels & Resorts said it will open the
252-room Occidental Grand Cozumel on Oct. 1.
Occidental said the resort will be targeted to scuba divers,
although it is expected to appeal to families, singles, couples and
groups, as well.
To celebrate the opening, the resort will offer a rate of $110
per person, per night, double, through Dec. 21.
Inclusive rates cover accommodations, all meals and snacks,
alcoholic beverages and soft drinks, entertainment, use of
nonmotorized water-sports equipment, land sports, beginner's scuba
clinics, use of the Kid's Club and taxes and gratuities. The
introductory rate also includes two free dives during the stay,
equipment and transportation.
The resort will offer daily scuba-diving clinics for all levels
of divers through its on-site dive shop, which will arrange
excursions to Cozumel's famous dive spots. The renowned Palancar
Reef, for example, is a five-minute boat ride from the resort.
The colonial-style property is situated on San Francisco Beach
in the southwest region of Cozumel. The resort features a
supervised Kid's Club and meetings facilities for up to 90
people.
For guests who want a more private resort experience, the
Occidental Grand offers a Royal Club wing with a separate reception
area and concierge, 24-hour room service, phones with data ports,
and a business center.
