NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- With a special license granted by the U.S.
Treasury Department, Cross-Cultural Solutions, a nonprofit
organization based here, is offering a program for legal travel to
Cuba.
Insight Cuba, an eight-night plan, enables clients to immerse
themselves in the day-to-day life of Cubans.
According to Steven Rosenthal, executive director at the
organization, the program was developed to "help foster friendships
and a greater understanding between the American and Cuban
people."
The Insight Cuba program spends four nights in Havana, two
nights in Pinar del Rio and one night each in Guira de Melena and
Matanzas.
Participants will interact with artists in their studios and
farmers and tobacco rollers on their farms as well as with other
locals.
The cost is $1,753 per person, double. A $240 single supplement
is available.
Included in the cost are airport transfers, three meals per day,
accommodations, motorcoach transportation, entrance fees, air
transportation within Cuba and the services of an English-speaking
guide throughout.
According to a spokeswoman for the organization, Cross-Cultural
Solutions is willing to work with agents for a commission on a
"case-by-case basis for actual sign-ups to the program."
Departure dates are Sept. 2, Nov. 18 and Dec. 27. The deadline
for enrolling is 60 days prior to the start date of the
program.
The organization also offers Insight and volunteer programs to
Peru, India and Ghana, and an additional volunteer program to
