Rates & Dates: Dutch Iris Inn makes tax season easier


he Dutch Iris Inn in Granby, Conn., is offering clients a weekend plan designed to leave the worries of tax season behind.

The two-night Tax & Relax package enables guests to check out on Sunday with completed tax returns, prepared by owner Kevin Marshall, who is a certified public accountant. The package costs $399 and includes breakfast for two.

For clients who don't want to stay an entire weekend, the bed-and-breakfast offers a one-night, weekday version of the program for $249. Under this plan, clients' returns will be mailed to them within five to 10 business days.

All Tax & Relax packages are fully tax-deductible. The plans are available through Dec. 3. However, after April 15, an extension must be filed prior to filing taxes.

Hotel Caravelle on St. Croix created the Cruzan Culture Winter package to celebrate St. Croix's history and culture.

The Don CeSar Beach Resort, a Loews Hotel in St. Pete Beach, Fla., upgraded its pet policy in conjunction with the Loews Loves Pets program.

The two-night Posh Pets getaway is priced from $768 per room, double (based on one owner and one dog or cat), valid on Sunday- through Thursday-night stays.

The rates cover a trip to pet-friendly Fort DeSoto Park; a massage for both owner and pet; a pet-owner massage lesson; body shampoo and manicure for the pet; gourmet dog biscuits and stew; and breakfast for the owner. Weekend rates are slightly higher.

Commission of 10% is paid on the room rate only (starts at $134 per night.) The package is valid through Sept. 30.

The Italian hotel chain Jolly Hotels is bringing an Italian experience to New York at its Jolly Hotel Madison Towers with the property's new Tuscan Suite.

The suite, priced at $199 per night, double, is decorated with art depicting the Italian countryside, and ceramics hand-painted by Tuscan artisans are displayed throughout.

Guests staying in the suite can peruse books written about Tuscany, such as Frances Mayes' collection of novels, including "Under the Tuscan Sun: At Home in Italy," or watch documentaries and movies set in the region. The rate also covers turndown service of cantucci biscotti dipped in Vin Santo, a sweet wine.
