Scand-America adds to Norway tours

NEW YORK -- Scand-America Tours has three new Norway programs and an extensive Scandinavia/Eastern Europe tour outlined in its 2000 brochure, Norway and Beyond. The Norway tours are 13-day packages with different themes.

Oslo is a featured city in many of Scand-America's Norway itineraries next year. The Best of Southern Norway package features town and city sightseeing, fjord cruises, museum visits and valley and mountain motorcoach tours. The program travels from Oslo through Kristiansand, Hovden, Voss, Flaam, Bergen, Balestrand, Oppdal, Trondheim, Roros and Lillehammer.

The Norwegian Glaciers and Adventures program visits museums and natural sites in the heart of the country. Areas visited include Oslo, Lillehammer, the Geiranger Fjord, the Jostedal Glacier, waterfalls in Gudvangen, Flaam, Bergen, the Hardanger Fjords, Odda, Kristiansand and Stavanger.

The Cultural Norway-East and West program has a focus on the traditions of Norway dating to 1030. The tour unfolds with sightseeing in Oslo; a canal cruise to Ostfold; sightseeing in Lillehammer; visits to one of the country's largest churches in Roros and the royal crowning cathedral in Trondheim; a stop at the city of roses in Molde; fjord views in Geiranger; a visit to a goat cheese farm on the way to Bergen, and an overnight in Stavanger.

Included in all Norway packages are roundtrip air fare; ferry, train and motorcoach transportation; guides, and daily breakfasts and dinners.

Prices start from $2,585 from New York and $2,920 from Los Angeles. The single supplement starts at $350. Other gateways are available.

Scand-America also features a diverse, 17-day tour of Scandinavia and eastern Europe. The Norway and Beyond tour features city tours and a cruise from Stockholm, Sweden, to Helsinki, Finland, and a train ride to St. Petersburg, Russia, for tours of the homes of the czars and the Hermitage.

Trains will also take guests to Riga, Latvia, for a day of leisure, and through the countryside of Latvia and Lithuania to Warsaw, Poland, where they will tour the reconstructed city. Berlin is visited via motorcoach.

Guests head back to Scandinavia via Copenhagen, Denmark, for shopping and a tour before boarding an overnight ship to Oslo, Norway.

A plane will bring guests to Reykjavik, Iceland, for two days of sightseeing before heading home.

The starting cost is $3,995 from New York and $4,330 from Los Angeles, with an $804 single supplement. All transfers, guides, breakfasts and most dinners, plus four lunches and nine city tours are included.

The Florida-based company's scheduled tours all depart July 24, 25 and 26. Other dates are available for groups.
