WILMETTE, Ill. -- Select Italy Tours, a division of upscale tour
operator Select Italy, set two departures for an escorted shopping
tour of Florence during the best sale season in the Italian fashion
capital.
The Florence Shopping Tour dates are Jan. 23 to Jan. 28 and Jan.
30 to Feb. 4. The land-only cost of $1,445 per person, double,
includes four nights' accommodations in the heart of Florence's
shopping district.
Roz Katz, director of Select Italy Tours, said the shopping tour
is especially perfect "for a small group of women who want to get
away together or a single woman who will feel welcomed into a small
group."
"As this tour occurs during a traditionally slow travel season,
the crowds are very small in Florence, and air fares are at their
lowest," Katz added.
Guests are accompanied by a guide and will visit outlets such as
Gucci, Prada and those specializing in gold, silk, cashmere, linens
and leather.
The tour also will include a private visit of the Capponi
Palace, including tea with Count Capponi; a cultural tour of
Florence; transfers; daily breakfast, and welcome and farewell
dinners.
Prior to each departure, travelers will indicate what type of
goods they are interested in purchasing. The guide will then
arrange for visits to these retailers as well as assist in filling
out VAT forms for tax reimbursement.
Wholesale air rates are available upon request, and individual
arrangements also are available. Each departure is limited to eight
to 14 people. Commission is 10%.
