UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. -- What can be more romantic on a honeymoon
than a hand-painted, heart-shaped doorway leading into a couple's
private forest?
Following up on the popularity of the animated movie "Shrek,"
the Sheraton Universal here, in conjunction with Universal Studios
Hollywood, designed the Shrek Honeymoon Suite, which is "totally
'Shrekked-out' from floor to ceiling and from bed to bath,"
according to a spokeswoman for the property.
One of the Sheraton Universal's executive suites was transformed
into the "ogre-the-top" Shrek Honeymoon Suite, complete with
separate living room and breakfast areas and a king-size bed.
The canopy bed, outfitted with green sheets, is adorned in moss
and vines, while the bathroom features green monogrammed towels,
green soap and environmentally friendly mud-bath packets.
Meanwhile, the breakfast table and living room furniture are
made of twigs -- with green cushions, of course, -- and renderings
of Shrek, Princess Fiona and Donkey decorate the walls.
Deluxe amenities include champagne or green punch, gingerbread
cookies at turndown and warm mud baths, all ogre favorites,
according to the spokeswoman.
The Shrek Honeymoon Suite is priced at $399 per night, double.
Commission is 10%.
One-day passes to Universal Studios Hollywood, where the couple
can hop on the Shrek 4-D attraction (and go on Shrek and Princess
Fiona's honeymoon), cost $49 plus tax and top off the couple's
honeymoon stay.
