Tourism commission: Visit California

SACRAMENTO -- The California Travel and Tourism Commission called on leisure and business travelers to avoid rescheduling trips to Southern California in the aftermath of the wildfires.

"We invite people from across the nation and around the world to visit California in the weeks ahead to enjoy all we have to offer," said Caroline Beteta, the CTTC's executive director. "Your visit will help us rebuild and recover from this terrible disaster."

The fires that ravaged parts of the state never threatened theme parks in San Diego, Orange County or greater Los Angeles, the CTTC said.

Tourist destinations in those areas and in "the great majority of the state [was] unaffected by the fires -- [they] remain open for business," the CTTC said. "Airports and freeways in Southern California are once again running at normal capacity."
