ORLANDO -- Universal Studios Vacations introduced a Corporate
Awards Certificates program that enables agents to target local
businesses with travel incentives.
Mason Ayres, general manager of Universal Studios Vacations, the
tour operator arm of the Universal Studios Escape destination
resort, said clients now can prepurchase commissionable Universal
Studios VIP Tour gift certificates through the Universal Studios
Vacations Great Escapes Certificate program.
Under the corporate certificate plan, businesses contact a
travel agent to prepurchase vacation package certificates, which
can be used for gifts, incentive awards, end-of-year bonuses,
loyalty programs, purchase inducements or contest drawings.
"Arming our travel industry partners with specific commissionable
tools targeting unique consumer travel segments is one of our
goals," according to Ayres.
In the corporate program, certificate recipients can contact the
same travel agent to start planning their vacations.
Universal created four award certificate vacation packages
redeemable now through Dec. 15, 2000.
Portofino Bay Hotel's awards package includes three nights'
accommodations; a five-hour, in-depth guided tour of one of the two
theme parks; a length-of-stay pass; a lunch or dinner; early park
admission, and other offerings. Rates start at $1,985 for two
adults or $2,627 for a family of four.
The other three packages are for off-site hotels but include a
two-day Escape Pass to both Universal theme parks, a CityWalk Party
Pass for entertainment, a choice of one lunch or dinner,
transportation between hotels and parks, early park admission and
more.Rates for a two-night package at the Radisson Twin Towers near
the parks start at $460, double, or $725 for a family of four.
Another three-night plan at the Hilton Grand Vacation Club
ranges from $989 per couple or $1,265 for a family of four.
As part of the program, cash gift certificates are available in
denominations of $100 and $250. These in turn can be used toward
the purchase of any Universal Studios Vacations package.
Corporate Awards Vacations Certificates are commissionable.
Agents also will receive commissions on any package add-ons, such
as air fare, rental car transportation and extra hotel nights.
VIP gift certificates, the second program, are priced from $125
per person. The VIP Tour features an in-depth escorted tour of
either one of the two Florida theme parks (Universal Studios
Florida and Universal's Islands of Adventure) or Universal Studios
Hollywood (in California).
These five-hour group tours provide priority entrance and
preferred seating in up to seven attractions at each selected theme
park.
The Tour Gift Certificates can be used as presents for the
holidays or special events. Gift certificates are redeemable now
through Dec. 15, 2000.
