COZUMEL, Mexico -- Cozumel is hoping its inaugural Reggae Festival on Sept. 28 will be a big hit with visitors.

The event will feature eight Mexican reggae bands: Antidoping, Raz Carmelo, Ganja, Theremoto, Acuaticos, I & I, Splash and Planeta Tierra, performing at the Andale Restaurant on San Martin beach.

The event will kick off with some pre-show festivities at noon, with the bands scheduled to play from 2 p.m. to midnight.

In addition to the music, a number of Mexico's top water sports athletes will show off their windsurfing, kiteboarding and surfing skills at the beach.

Tickets are available in advance at the Chedraui Supermarket, San Francisco Supermarket or Video Vision for $8; $10 if purchased the day of the event. For information about Cozumel, visit www.islacozumel.com.mx.
