The airport in
Nimes, France, has escaped closure thanks to
lobbying by residents, according to French tourism
authorities.
Although Air
France has stopped serving the town, discount Irish carrier Ryanair
moves 200,000 people per year between the airport and London and
Liverpool in the U.K.
Thanks to that
Ryanair service, officials said they will keep Nimes small airport
open at least through 2006.
