Gene Simmons, a founding member of the rock band Kiss, will open his first Rock & Brews restaurant in El Segundo, Calif., on April 3 and in the next few years plans to expand the chain to locations in Tokyo; Atlanta; Los Cabos, Mexico; and Maui.
Simmons has partnered with restaurateur Michael Zislis and concert promoter Dave Furano on a concept combining “quality comfort foods” with a selection of more than 40, on-tap artisanal beers in a setting meant to resemble the backstage area at a rock concert.
No dates have been set for locations beyond El Segundo: The partners said they expect to open four Rock & Brews locations in 2012 with “aggressive plans for continued expansion worldwide beginning in 2013.”
