Description
Historic, Internationally Renowned Hotel, Switzerland's oldest, dating from the 11th century.
Location and History
This hotel (known to some as Hotel des Trois Rois au Rhin) not only enjoys a romantic central location overlooking the left bank of the Rhine and Mittlere Bridge, but it also enjoys a reputation as Basel's best traditional hotel, and rightfully so.
This historic hotel was founded in 1026. Voltaire, Napoleon, Dickens, Picasso and Stravinsky, among others, have signed the guest book, which qualifies as a veritable archive. It was originally an inn for gentlemen, but it expanded its horizons in the 1800s as a Grand Hotel.
