Location and History
In the historic district, located at Meeting Street and across from the Old City Market, this four-story 1840s building and adjacent three-story structure takes its Continental Relais & Chateaux affiliation seriously (it's the only hotel in South Carolina with the designation), radiating the classic cultivated ambience of a European inn and destination dining room rather than that of a sweet southern belle.
The hotel's name is a nod to the plantation owners who would stay in the inn when they came to do business at the harbor.
