Description
Well-appointed Hotel situated on the banks of the Rhone River in downtown Geneva's financial district.
Location and History
Opened in 1950 as the Hotel du Rhone, this was the first hotel built here after World War II. Its opening coincided with establishment of UN headquarters in Geneva. It introduced many new hotel standards, such as en suite baths for every room, and quickly became known as the city's most prestigious hotel, attracting diplomats, royalty and celebrities.
Over the decades, it has had various owners and several major renovations. In 2000, Mandarin Oriental bought the property and has since renovated using renowned designers from NYC, Paris and Hong Kong.
