Location and History
Located on the banks of the Outer Alster, across the lake from the legendary Fairmont Vier Jahreszeiten, and surprisingly close to the Hamburg Hauptbanhof, the former Atlantic Kempinski Hamburg is fondly referred to by locals as the Castle on the Lake. Now, it is part of Marriott's boutique Autograph Collection to the delight of American travelers, but not much else seems to have changed.
The 1905 building exudes history and is the kind of hotel you'd see as a decal on a steamship trunk.
