Calle Igualdad, Isla Holbox, Quintana Roo, Mexico 77310
Description
Contemporary mayan-themed hotel, 10-minute walk to Holbox Beach; 2-hour drive to the airport; 2 miles to the Passion Island.
Location and History
Located on one of the northernmost points in the Yucatan Peninsula, set on a sandy plot across a small road from the beach, a long but scenic three-hour trip from Cancun's hotel zone and the airport (CUN)—accessible by ferry from the tiny, provincial town of Chiquila—this is an honest to goodness castaway island retreat.
Isla Holbox has been enduring a population boom and waxing tourist interest during the last decade, but it still holds some of the mystique that has lured adventurers here since the 1960s.
