Description
Landmark Palace Hotel in Belle Epoque-style with classical decor, set in city center, facing Neptuno Fountain & Prado Museum.
Location and History
Rubbing shoulders with the Prado, next door to the Thyssen-Bornemisza, this hotel, commissioned by Alfonso XIII and opened in 1912, is an ornate Victorian landmark in a superlative setting for sightseers. The best rooms overlook the Neptune Fountain and its nearest competitor in the ranks, the Ritz Madrid, Mandarin Oriental.
The property has seen significant history, which guests can review in the lobby-level bar where framed photographs detail its life hosting well-known names as well as serving as a military hospital during the Spanish Civil War.
