In the Flatiron neighborhood, the area surrounding Madison Square Park, once considered off-the-beaten path but now rife with e-publishers and chic bars and restaurants, this is Henry Kallan's least-appreciated property, a gleaming built-from-the-ground-up boutique-hotel.
It may lack the kinetic Broadway character of the Casablanca and literary notes and rooftop bar of the Library, but its frank modern style and laudable modern infrastructure are notable—it was built in 1999.
