Overlooking Liberdade Square, and at the end of Avenida dos Aliados in an implausibly gorgeous old city location, with views of Porto's baroque spires and UNESCO-recognized antique architecture, this is one of InterContinental's best and a shoo-in for top dog in the birthplace of port wine.
You can't get more centrally located than this hotel, which is within walking distance to many city sights as well as the Sao Bento train station and Clerigos Tower. The work on the new metro line near the hotel is nearing completion, although that link had yet to open.
