This property was transformed from an early 20th-century sheep slaughterhouse and packing plant that operated 1915-1975. After the plant's closure, the complex stood abandoned for decades until the long-term owners hit on the idea of preserving it as a luxury hotel. The repurposing also honors the property's past with a vast, excellent museum of turn-of-the-century steam engines and equipment, all formerly used in the plant.
The hotel stands out in stark industrial contrast to Patagonia's natural rugged surroundings.
