Location and History
The hotel's location, next to the Musee de la Civilisation and a block from Place des Canotiers along the St. Lawrence River, is excellent and fitting for this unique Relais & Chateau museum hotel. It is a short stroll, sometimes uphill, to nearly all the must-see attractions below Old Quebec, including Place Royale, the birthplace of the French settlement in North America. A funicular transports visitors up to the promontory of Old Quebec, and the Citadel.
Part of the land on which the hotel sits was once a wharf and a gun battery manned by the French against the British in the 18th century.
