Location and History
With its red roofs, numerous archways, gurgling fountains, picturesque paseos, creamy stucco walls and more than two million pieces of colorful tile in 27 patterns, the Spanish Mission-style Hotel Californian looks like it's been a part of the Santa Barbara hospitality scene since the 1920s.
But with the exception of the reconfigured facade of one of its three buildings and a name borrowed from an old hotel that once sat on the same site, this development is a gorgeous newcomer.
