Zion National Park PO Box 925, Springdale, UT 84767
Description
Comfortable 2-story Resort Lodge located inside Park's southern entrance.
Location and History
In a narrow valley cut by a stream that runs down Zion Canyon, this historic two-story wood lodge was designed by the architect of Yosemite's Ahwahnee. Although less inspired than its California companion, this 1926 "resort" is in better shape than some National Park lodgings.
Xanterra does an adequate job at managing the property, and the U.S. government sets the budgets. The park's shuttle system and a guarded entry at the lodge help cut down on congestion, and this is a great place to avoid the more crowded and commercial area of downtown Springdale outside the park entrance.
