Traditional downtown hotel in building dating from the 14th century; situated on the banks of the Limmat River.
Location and History
This is the only hotel right on the Limmat River, a superb location, and a rare reminder of the intimate, personalized hotels that served travelers during the last century. Just outside the hotel, a small square leads directly to the old town and charming, winding roads lined with shops and cafes.
Technically, it was the very first hotel in Zurich, dating to the 1400s, when it was the guild hall for fishermen and a resting house for traveling gentlemen. In the 1850s, it was converted into a shopping arcade, losing its "oldest hotel" status.
