Pullman Rail Journeys, part of the Premier Rail Collection of seven railroads and companies owned and operated by Iowa Pacific Holdings, launched scheduled overnight sleeper car service between Chicago and New Orleans last year in rail cars restored to the original Pullman design. On a recent trip to Panama, copy editor Eric Moya stayed at the Riu Playa Blanca, pictured, and the Riu Plaza in Panama City. The Playa Blanca property opened on April 4 and is the hotelier's second Panama property and its first all-inclusive in the country. Windstar Cruises has begun sailing the former Seabourn Pride under a new name, Star Pride. After an 18-day drydock, Windstar put its own stamp on a number of public spaces. The former Constellation Lounge is now the Yacht Club (pictured here), and Windstar has installed its trademark Compass Rose lounge where The Club used to be. Windstar is playing up the yacht-like feel of the Star Pride, the first of its ships that won't have sails. See more of the changes in the following slides. The Ritz-Carlton, Rancho Mirage in Palm Springs, Calif., sits 650 feet above the Coachella Valley desert floor. The property originally opened under Marriott International's Ritz-Carlton badge in 1988 before being reflagged as the Lodge at Rancho Mirage in 2001. The hotel was closed five years later to undergo what was to be a 14-month renovation project to bring it back up to Ritz-Carlton standards. The 9/11 Memorial and Museum, which opens to the public May 21, will "display artifacts associated with the events of September 11 while presenting stories of loss and recovery." Travel Weekly and TravelAge West's inaugural Global Travel Marketplace West, a West Coast spinoff of last year's elite-agent event in Fort Lauderdale, was held May 2 through 4 at the Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa. During the course of the event, 76 travel sellers representing more than $160 million in travel sales met with 77 global suppliers in small-group boardroom sessions and one-on-one, seven-minute meetings.
