The Austrian National Tourism Office invited 60 travel agents from the U.S. and Australia for a Destination Summit in the cities of Salzburg and Vienna. The goal was to promote Austria as a main travel destination for a European journey. Astrid Mulholland-Licht, market manager of the Austrian National Tourist Office in Sydney, kicked off the summit's Destination Day with warm opening remarks and generous appreciation for everyone's participation.

The next presenter, Birgit Potoschnig, head of international Market management of the Austrian National Tourist Office in Vienna, delivered a detailed explanation of the brand "Vacation in Austria."

Michael Gigl, regional manager, USA and Australia, for the Austrian National Tourist Office in New York, delivered an insightful presentation of Austria including a condensed, yet comprehensive overview of Austria's extensive history.

Gabriele Wolf, who handles product innovation for the Austrian National Tourist Office in New York, explained how Austria can deliver to any client an authentic European experience.

Thomas Strobl, an Austrian musician and entertainer, was a special guest to the summit. Strobl gave several light-hearted performances explaining to summit attendees "Who is the most typical Austrian?". A truly entertaining addition to the day's itinerary, Strobl played the part of the "Typical Austrian," showing that Austrians are a friendly, calm, courteous, and humble people with a very sharp sense of humor.
