Apple Vacations' Golden and Crystal Apple Awards Gala, held last night at Chicago's Art Institute, was originally scheduled to be held at the Trump International Hotel & Tower, also in Chicago, but the venue was moved following Donald Trump's controversial comments about migrant Mexican workers. The speaker for the evening was Trump imitator John Di Domenico. He began by complimenting Apple executives: ''What you have done is tremendous. On Aug. 25, 1916, President Woodrow Wilson signed the Organic Act establishing the National Park Service, which at the time oversaw 35 national parks and monuments. Little could President Wilson or the parks' stewards have predicted that their vision of nature and wildlife preservation would balloon into a vast network of 408 parks, forests, monuments, battlefields and coastline that have become some of the most visited tourism destinations in the world. 100 years of stewardship
The annual event was held Aug. 29 to Sept. 1 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, featuring workshops and educational panels for attendees, as well as a trade show, opportunities to tour the city and more. On Monday night, the ASTA Advocacy Dinner spotlighting the organization was held at the Mayflower Hotel. Paul Ruden, ASTA's executive vice president of legal and industry affairs, was the master of ceremonies during the dinner. Wildfires have been burning in Washington State, Idaho, California and Montana.
