Estrella del Mar Golf and Beach Resort: Just outside the
city, the resort is adding 42 guest rooms to its 27-room Las Villas
development. The new facilities, to open in June, will include a
restaurant, spa and gym. Plans also call for adding nine holes to
the existing 18-hole, Robert Trent Jones Jr.-designed golf course.

Western Posada Freeman: This 50-room Best Western opened
in 2006 on the beach in the Zona Dorada. The hotel, decorated in
minimalist style, has a swimming pool and guest rooms with Internet
access. The property is affiliated with the 72-room Best Western

" The Inn
at Mazatlan: An ongoing room renovation program will
result in all 215 guest units being redecorated by October. The inn
also opened a new spa and gym in 2006 and plans to open a poolside

Mayan Sea Garden: Just north of the Zona Dorada district,
the resort is constructing a tower to open in December with 70
rooms and a spa, boutique and meetings space. Also included: two

Pronatours: This operator launched a day-trip tour to
Cosala, a colonial town outside Mazatlan that dates to the 16th
century. The town, which prospered during the gold rush of the 16th
and 17th centuries, is home to historic churches, museums and
residences.

Frontier Airlines: The carrier will launch nonstop service
linking Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, and Mazatlan on June
7.
