Jamie Biesiada
Jamie Biesiada, an award-winning editor, reporter and webmaster, has been named Travel Weekly’s new senior editor covering retail travel sellers.
In her new role, she will be responsible for reporting news about travel advisers and agencies, consortia and OTAs as well as GDSs and other technologies driving the retail distribution channel.
Biesiada replaces Kate Rice, who resigned in July to join a virtual reality travel firm.
“In recruiting a replacement for Kate, Jamie stood out for her proven journalism skills, her energy and her rich background reporting news across multiple communications platforms, from print to the Web and social media,” said Editor in Chief Arnie Weissmann. “We are delighted that she will be covering one of our most important subject areas — the travel sellers who constitute the bulk of our reader community in print and online.”
Biesiada most recently had been the managing editor for the Manasquan, N.J., Star News Group since 2011. In that role, she was responsible for overseeing a staff of 14 full-time and five part-time employees who produced content for two weekly newspapers, an entertainment magazine, related websites and social media feeds, plus special supplements.
From 2009 to 2011, she was a beat reporter for the Star News Group, covering communities and events up and down the New Jersey shore.
In 2013, Biesiada was named to Editor & Publisher’s Top 25 Under 35 list, which honors the most promising young journalists.
A 2009 graduate of Monmouth University, she makes her home in Manasquan and will work out of Travel Weekly’s newsroom in the Secaucus, N.J. headquarters of Northstar Travel Media, LLC.
