2017 Developments
Appointed David Thompson as its chief information and technology officer. He joined from Western Union, a global financial services company, where he was chief technology officer and executive vice president of global operations.
Thompson is responsible for enterprise technology, application development, IT operations and data systems, information security and the product development teams. GBT also appointed Martine Gerow as CFO.
Reached an agreement with British Airways and Iberia to enable companies and travelers to avoid paying a surcharge on airfares through participating GDSs. American Express GBT was central to bringing the airlines and GDSs together to sign the distribution agreement.
Acquired Banks Sadler, an international event management agency headquartered in London. The company operates as part of American Express Meetings & Events, a division of GBT.
