2017 Developments

Continued its investment in back-end technology systems to link its 22 global markets, enabling travel and lifestyle consultants to share expertise while creating a more unified network.

Introduced Destination Managers, on-the-ground experts in top markets, to share their recommendations and knowledge with travel consultants. Destination Managers currently sit in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Paris, London and Tokyo and also are involved in marketing strategy, with insight and recommendations shared through American Express social media channels.

Continued to invest in the Travel Insiders program, reopening submission opportunities to attract talent and expanding to new destinations while continuing to drive additional leads to the website.

Its Fine Hotels & Resorts now consists of more than 1,000 properties worldwide. In 2018, over 150 new properties were introduced in more than 40 destinations.

The Hotel Collection includes 80 new properties across 18 new destinations.

Refreshed its American Express Travel International Airline Program, enabling access to lower fares for Platinum cardmembers as well as travel companions when booking international flights.

Further invested in technology, including acquiring AI and developing programs piloting tech like website personalization. The company refreshed the Platinum experience on the American Express Travel website. Additionally, through American Express' recent acquisition of virtual travel assistant Mezi, the brand is using artificial intelligence combined with human expertise to make travel recommendations and book trips.
