Budget Rent A Car awarded Michael Beaudoin of Billerica, Mass., a grand prize of $25,000 for his "Traveling on a Budget" video.
As in previous years, Budget designed the Flip for Budget video promotion to utilize new media (any type of interactive, electronic media, such as blogs, streaming videos or podcasts) to connect travelers with the brand.
Budget previously developed the Up Your Budget travel blog in 2007, featuring a forum to share road trip stories and ideas; partnered with Weird U.S. in 2006 to promote unique travel destinations throughout America; and created a scavenger hunt in 2005 that hid money around the country.
The Flip for Budget video contest asked contestants to submit a two-minute video demonstrating "how to live the budget-savvy lifestyle" while on vacation or a road trip. It required hat video entries include car travel, such as a road trip, and feature a Budget Rent A Car reference and logo at least once.
"Budget customers are savvy consumers who like to save money on travel expenses, so it's no surprise that our 'Flip for Budget' contest produced some outstanding videos that show the many different ways they travel on a budget," said Becky Alseth, senior vice president of marketing at Avis Budget Group, parent company of Budget. "Michael Beaudoin's video was noteworthy for featuring a catchy original soundtrack written and performed by Michael detailing all of the ways he likes to save money while traveling...including, of course, renting from Budget."
