Eurail Selectpass set for January debut: Travel Weekly

NEW YORK -- The European Railroads introduced their first new rail pass in four years, the Eurail Selectpass.

The pass covers rail and ferry travel in any three bordering countries included in the railroads' longstanding 17-country Eurailpass.

Passes are available for five, six, eight or 10 days within a two-month period; the days need not be consecutive. Prices start at $328 for a five-day Eurail Selectpass.

Rail Europe and DER Travel will sell the pass starting in January.

The railroads also announced that prices for the Eurailpass will remain unchanged for 2000. Prices for the six- and eight-day Europasses increased 5.4% and 2.6% over last year.
