WASHINGTON -- AccesRail, which sells tickets for BritRail and the
Swedish and Norwegian railroad systems, is joining ARC.
The move brings the number of railroads that travel agents can
book and sell through ARC to five. Amtrak, Via Rail Canada and
BritRail already are participating suppliers.
That means agents will have two ways to sell BritRail -- using
its own code and through AccesRail, but an ARC spokesman said the
dual system will be "temporary." Effective Aug. 21, agents can use
AccesRail (codes 9B and 450) as the ticketing carrier on ARC ticket
stock to sell BritRail and the Swedish and Norwegian railways.
Payment methods on AccesRail are cash. American Express, Visa
and Mastercard, with Diners Club soon to follow.
AccesRail is automatically appointing all ARC agencies unless it
notifies a specific firm to the contrary.
