For 2016, Abercrombie & Kent will charter the new 264-passenger
luxury explorer vessel Le Lyrial for its Antarctica departures.
Previously, A&K had chartered the 264-passenger Le
Boreal for both its Antarctic and Arctic cruises. But next season, the company
will be using Le Boreal’s newer sister ship Le Lyrial, launched by Ponant this
past spring, in Antarctica and Le Boreal in the Arctic.
A&K will have four Antarctica departures on Le Lyrial
and two Arctic departures on Le Boreal in 2016.
A new “Iceland & Greenland: In the Wake of the Vikings”
itinerary will be taking passengers to the less visited southern and western
regions of Greenland, from Skjoldungen Fjord, down to Price Christian Sound,
around and up to Kangerlussuaq. It also visits the Westman Islands off Iceland,
which is an area A&K hasn’t visited before. The 12-day sailing, Aug. 16-27,
is priced from $10,495 per person when booked by Dec. 31. A&K has waived
the single supplement for select cabin categories.
The company is also adding a new “Family New Year” departure
in Antarctica. Taking place Dec. 28, 2016-Jan. 8, 2017, the itinerary is
designed for families traveling with kids ages 7 to 18.
