Swain Tours: Back in the USTOA: Travel Weekly

Swain Tours has re-established its membership in the U.S. Tour Operators Association after a short lapse.

The company had been without USTOA membership since this past July after former owner Ian Swain purchased the operation back from the Travel Corp.

After Swain's purchase of the company in July, it was ineligible for membership until late September due to USTOA bylaws that required a three-year waiting period following the bankruptcy of its former parent company, Far & Wide Travel Corp.

The Travel Corp. had bought Swain Tours shortly after the collapse of Far & Wide in September 2003. Swain, who founded Swain Tours with wife Linda in 1987, had sold out to Far & Wide in 1999, but had stayed on to run the company.

While Swain Tours was owned by the Travel Corp., it belonged to USTOA under the membership of its parent company.
