ARLINGTON, VA. -- Are ARC and travel agent representatives getting
closer to resolving issues related to ARC's plan to institute new
procedures that would restrict agents' ability to void airline
tickets?
Paul Ruden, ASTA staff senior vice president of Industry Affairs
and a member of ARC advisory board JAB-ARA, told TravelWeekly.com
that progress seemed to be taking place during the board's March 12
conference call.
Ruden, however, declined to disclose to the specifics of the
March 12 session.
An ARC spokesman said: "In the various areas where concerns were
expressed, there was a lot of action to address those concerns and
mitigate any ill effects" such as the cost impact on agencies.
Many of the issues surrounding the voiding process "seem to be
effectively addressed, the ARC spokesman added.
"We have not come to a conclusion," Ruden said. "I think there
was movement, but I can't go into the details."
However, Ruden predicted that there would be "an outcome one way
or the other fairly soon, I think."
