BOSTON -- Massachusetts Democratic state Sen. Charles Shannon
pre-filed, for the 2003-2004 legislative session, a bill requiring
travel agents and tour operators to be licensed and pass competency
exams.
The proposed bill exempts from licensing "persons" who operate
ARC agencies; individuals who must be licensed would be exempt from
testing if they have three years' experience on the job and can
demonstrate they are "of good moral character."
A duplicate bill was introduced in the previous legislative
session but died in committee.
