UATP launches merchant program for agencies

WASHINGTON -- Universal Air Travel Plan (UATP), an airline-owned corporate travel payment system, launched a pilot program that allows travel agencies to accept UATP cards directly as merchants.

UATP said that as merchants, travel agencies may accept UATP for service fees and net fare tickets.

UATP said it is testing the program with a select group of corporate agencies and plans an "aggressive expansion" throughout 2003.

Carriers participating in the UATP payment system include Aer Lingus, Air New Zealand, Alitalia, American Airlines, Austrian Airlines, British Airways, Continental Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Japan Airlines, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Lufthansa German Airlines, Qantas Airways, Scandinavian Airlines System, United Airlines and US Airways.
